Uncategorized10 More Movies about Writers You Shouldn’t Miss (Part 2)

Movies about writers So, my previous post on must-watch movies about writers received much response. And thank you very much for that. Sharing your favorite movies was really nice of you.

And according to your voting, here we nominate the following top 10 movies:

1. Dead Poets Society (1989)

The movie is about an English teacher who inspires his students to love poetry and to catch the day. It will inevitably make you want to write some poetry (or grab another order). After you stop crying, of course.

2. Adaptation (2002)

Both funny and thought-provoking, this comedy was made to make you smile (or even laugh out loud). It’s a story of a talented but paranoid and socially inept screenwriter. He’s terrified of talking to women and it gets him into numerous funny situations. It’s full of writing jokes, and some of them only writers can get.

3. Secret Window (2004)

Adaptation of Steven King’s novel Secret Window, it’s a story about plagiarism accusations. An author is accused of plagiarism by a strange man.

4. Sinister (2012)

Note that it’s a horror movie about what can happen when a true-crime writer finds home movies showing crimes. Consider watching it only if you are fond of this genre.

5. Ruby Sparks (2012)

An excellent example of a romantic comedy drama movie about a writer suffering from a heavy case of a writer’s block.

6. Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994)

A story about a group of writers who met every weekday during ten years.

7. Prozac Nation (2001)

An autobiographical story about struggling through depression in America, studying in college and working as a writer at the same time.

8. Throw Momma from the Train (1987)

This black comedy won’t leave you indifferent. It’s a movie about a writer, whose wife stole his work and success.

9. The Squid and the Whale (2005)

It’s a comedy drama about the hardships of writers’ careers and the difficulties of going through the parents’ divorce.

10. The Ghost Writer (2010)

This list would be incomplete without this political thriller. A ghost writer is invited to write memoirs of a former prime minister after his predecessor dies in a strange accident. Who would think that it’s a proven recipe for trouble.

So, get some popcorn and enjoy the movie. Please share your impressions or any other movies about writers you think should be added to this list in the comments below.
