Freelance Writing: Simple Tips on Complicated Topics5 Things Successful Freelance Writers Do before 8 a.m.

Freelance Writers Are you one of those people who never wake up without putting your alarm clock ‘for another 5 minutes’? Even though morning can be not your favorite part of the day, morning hours can work on you if you use them right. Morning time can be the key to success.

Did you know what most successful people have in common? They get up early. Margaret Thatcher woke up at 5 a.m. Robert Iger, the director of Disney, woke up at 4.30 a.m.

Sure, I don’t dare to offer you to wake up that early. However, here are 5 things which most successful freelance writers do before 8 a.m.

How Top Freelance Writers Spend Their Time Before 8 a.m.

  1. Workout. It can be yoga, jogging or any other fitness program that suits you best. Just a few exercises can be a perfect morning workout. It will fill you with energy and give you the deserved feeling of easy victory.
  2. Making a plan for a day. Effective planning is a sure fire way to productivity. And don’t forget to include pleasant activities for breaks in your busy schedule. Some funny videos or a cup of fresh coffee are not a luxury. It’s a true necessity of all freelance writers.
  3. Healthy breakfast. Did you notice that your body takes a revenge if you skip breakfast? You may feel sleepy or irritated. The very term ‘breakfast’ means break + fast. It’s a break from the night fast. Your body has been hungry all night long, and not it needs some fuel. Start your morning with a glass of clear water and your day will go on wheels.
  4. Visualization. Another important activity that is often overlooked is visualization and/or meditation. Enjoy some quality time with yourself. Imagine some goals you’re going to achieve today. Try to think of the tiniest details of your great results (a positive feedback from customer or a ‘thank you’ message from support representative.)
  5. Smiling. Try to find someone to smile to. Your spouse, child, cat. If you can’t find any object, smile to yourself looking in the mirror.

Another advice is to start from the most unpleasant task – the revision you hate or an order which requires some special effort. As you’re now filled with energy, it’s not a big deal.
